HELP US HELP A FEW GREAT ORGANIZATIONS

"When you travel to places like Nepal, Tibet, Argentina, and Africa you immediately realize that we are a very small percentage in the world with incredible privileges. We take things as granted like running water, electricity, health care, and human rights… But over 3 billion people in the world lack all of them." The team believes that with the fortune of having so many privileges we also bear responsibilities toward the less fortunate. This is why, although conscious that we can't solve all the problems in the world, the group has set a specific goal to help two worthy organizations while climbing Kilimanjaro.

The local Colorado Cancer Foundation based in Boulder, Colorado

www.co-cancer-foundation.org

"Following the death of a loved one, we feel compelled to give so that others might be spared a similar tragedy. It is a way of paying tribute to the one we love, a way of transforming a loss into a gift for others." A Foundation Board Member.

Since its inception, the Foundation has worked hard to raise funds that support technicians, nurses and students, recruit top researchers and physicians, and purchase essential laboratory equipment for the Division of Medical Oncology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center." The Foundation has no overhead.

"Every dollar we raise either goes to organizations that have a specific need or to the Division of Medical Oncology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, to support basic and clinical research." Foundation members meet with physicians to gauge the progress of research and clinical care, and work with the staff to develop and fund future goals.

The African Medical & Research Foundation based in Nairobi, Kenya

www.amref.org

The mission of AMREF is to empower disadvantaged people in Africa to enjoy better health. In future the success of our work will be measured by the impact we make on the lives of the most disadvantaged. AMREF defines the disadvantaged as people who suffer high prevalence and impact of major health problems and challenges like malaria, HIV/AIDS, adolescent and reproductive health, water and sanitation.
The team is planning to raise several thousand dollars and divide the donations between the two organizations.
