The Foundation works with professional architects who implement a design policy that mixes low-grade impact on the surroundings with state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly materials to provide a safe and mentally engaging space for the students.
The proposed buildings include:
Made of local stone and pine beetle wood, a one-room cabin next to the rock face on the property. The cabin will become the site of the “School of Rock” – used by future rock and ice climbers. Estimated cost: $75,000. Expected ground breaking: Spring 2012
Made of local stone and pine beetle wood, a two-cabin on the South side of the property. The Cabin will become the site of the “Mogul Mill” – used by future backcountry skiers. . Estimated cost: $100,000. Expected ground breaking: Spring 2013
A barn made entirely of pine beetle built for special guest presentations, and for indoor rock climbing in inclement weather. The barn will also function as the storage facility for all outdoor gear. Estimated cost: $200,000. Expected ground breaking: Spring 2014
The Foundation site is also aiming to become a research center for future energy sources, including, but not limited to Solar, Wind and Hydroelectric. The goal is to have all buildings powered by clean, renewable energy.
