Going green
While Carving Europe, the Across the Atlas team will embody a universal consciousness meant to span far beyond its physical journey. In both mind and action, the team will promote a global awareness of the changing climate throughout the communities it encounters. The goal is to inspire a personal and societal dialogue about the benefits of symbiotic living with our increasingly fragile world.
Across the Atlas will minimize its ecological footprint through the use of carbon offsetting. Every mile and liter of fuel will be recorded—data so we can fully renew the energy used by the team during its trip. Once the adventure has come to a successful close, the team will offset its environmental impact by investing in future projects that are both energy efficient and renewable.

In addition, the team will:
- Plant a tree in every country
- Eat only locally grown, sustainable foods
- Recycle all accumulated debris in proper locations
- Distribute the EU’s Climate Awareness packet, in the language of each visited country

And that’s just the beginning. We welcome any ideas you may have to help the ATA team preserve our planet during its record-setting endeavor. Contact Pietro Simonetti at pietro@acrosstheatlas.com with your suggestions.
Most importantly, Across the Atlas intends to engage a wide demographic during its travels. The team will use these encounters to find out what matters to these world citizens in their corner of this ever-changing planet.
